-
Is there an academic age limit?
Yes, applicants must be in possession of a doctorate (PhD) or must have defended their PhD before the date of the deadline (before 31.10.2022). Moritz Schlick postdocs must have obtained their doctorate in 2020 or later (date on PhD certificate). There are exceptions, in case you can prove parental leave, military service or civil service, in the time period after receiving your PhD degree.
In case your PhD certificate is dated 31.12.2019 or earlier and none of the exceptions to the academic age limit apply to you, you are unfortunately not eligible to participate in this programme.
-
Are there exceptions to academic age limit?
Yes. Time for parental leave, military or civilian service will not be counted. For maternity leave: for each child born since the applicant has been in possession of their doctoral degree, 18 months will be added to this date unless the applicant can document a longer parental leave prior to the call deadline. Paternity: for each child born since the applicant has been in possession of their doctoral degree, the documented time of parental leave taken until the call deadline will be added.
The documented time taken for military or civilian service since the applicant has been in possession of their doctoral degree will not count towards the two-year limit. Additionally, if the applicant can document severe illness since being in possession of their doctoral degree, this time will not count towards the two-year limit.
For example, an applicant received her doctoral degree on 12.12.2019 and had a child on 5.10.2020. Since the applicant does not provide documentation for a longer parental leave, 18 months are automatically added. Her “new” date for receiving her doctoral degree is 12.12.2019 + 18 months = 12.06.2021.
-

Additional opportunities for successful external fellowships are up to negotiation with the host institution.
