Your ongoing dissertation project has the potential to generate social, economic or cultural impact? Win the Impact Award 2023 and spread the impact of your research project with a tailor-made video!
The Impact Award provides winners with visibility for their research. As a prize, 8 PhD students of the University of Vienna will receive a tailor-made video production to present the impact of their research project. The selected projects receive targeted support in order to present their results to a broad public and to leverage the potential for exploitation - both economic and non-economic.

The winners of the Impact Award 2023 will receive a tailor-made video production to present the impact of their research project. This consists of a video shoot from the series Univie Presenting... portraits of early stage researchers as well as an animated infographic about the impact of the research project, which will be made available to the award winners for further use on websites, social media, presentations, etc.
Requirements
You are an active doctoral student at the University of Vienna with an ongoing dissertation project. In addition to high scientific quality, your project should have the potential to generate social, economic or cultural added value. The results of your project should reach new target groups, stimulate innovative types of activities and products or contribute in other ways to solving societal challenges and have an impact outside the scientific community.
Deadlines
Deadline for submission is May 25, 2023 23:59. Applications can be submitted here.
The award winners will be announced on July 7, 2023.
For award winners: The production of the videos including animated infographics must be completed by January 31, 2024.
Submission
The application must be submitted online and consists of:
application form with personal information
abstract of the dissertation (upload as PDF)
CV incl. publication list, if applicable (upload as PDF)
Classification of your own work under the 17 UN SDGs (upload as PDF)
Including a short justification, max. 100 words
Procedure and selection criteria
The decision will be made by a panel of internal and external jurors. All submissions that meet the selection criteria, will be invited to a live pitch in front of the jury (probably in the first week of July, 2023).
The focus of the live pitch is on the presentation of the impact. In preparation, there will be pitch my impact - workshop for all interested.
Selection criteria:
First excellent research results within the framework of the doctorate
Convincing and generally understandable presentation of the relevance of the research work and the potential to achieve special impact in it
